All project for Mockingbird are now overdue and will be zero unless you participate in noonhour catch-up classes. We are currently reading Night by Elie Wiesel. It is not a partularly festive book but it is an interesting story and one that needs to be told.

Macbeth is almost over. Thanks for working hard to complete those final projects. We will be reading some poem, essays, and short stories until Christmas. After Christmas we will begin The Black Donnellys.

Prefixes and suffixes for vocabulary words are important to understand as it will give you the meaning of the word very quickly if you know the definition of the prefix or suffix. Open Heart frame and essay outline were discussed today. Tomorrow we start writing. Prefix assignment is due Wednesday.

Welcome to the second semester. I am excited to teach some new students and to welcome back the comforting faces from last semester and last year. IF YOU FIND A MECHANICAL ERROR IN THIS BLOG AND ARE THE FIRST TO REPORT IT TO ME, YOU WILL RECEIVE A BONUS MARK OF 1 %.

You are a very quiet group but I am sure you will get more comfortable as time goes on. We are dealing with the issue of charity. Should you give to the panhandlers or not? Tomorrow you will get a chance to become a person living on the street and you will tell us your story.

A disappointing class today. The assignment was a very quick write of a letter to the editor and after 1/2 hour very little was accomplished. A more mature attitude would be a sign of respect.

Test on Chapters 9-12 Lord of the Flies tomorrow. This week we will be discussing various themes and motifs presented in the novel and will write the final quiz on Friday.

The Aboriginal Contemporary Voice authors are Rita Joe and Drew Hayden Taylor (The Special Occasion). Obviously, you appreciate the humour of Taylor!! Questions are due tomorrow.
