One more scene of "The Glass Menagerie" and we are finished reading the classic. The question tomorrow is "What makes this play a classic?" The answer is: 1. The theme is timeless. 2. We can relate to the characters. 3. Setting is irrelevant, it could happen anywhere, anytime.

Next to last chapters for Warriors Don't Cry. Keep reading and summarizing and doing the group work.

Sorry for the late post...it has been a long day. All the marking is in and I have a marksheet for you tomorrow. The first class to have all assignments in from all students will receive a free reading class with treats. Pass this info to your classmates as I will not say it in class until YOU say it first. Hee Hee.

We worked in jigsaw groups to research the story for the proof needed for the essay outline. We will work on the essay tomorrow. Feel free to work on the outline so we can move ahead.

Read "Beer at Cochin" and defined the figures of speech. Began work on the RAFTS for the poem. Tomorrow we are revising and typing the memoir - have your draft completed for tomorrow.

Read "The Knife Sharpener" and did the SSC together. Signed out The Chrysalids. Please read chapters 1-4 by Monday.

The library is a difficult place in which to stayed focused. But, it is a change of rooms and gives me a look at your ability to work independently. Final copy of the homeless essay is due tomorrow.

I hope everyone had a good weekend and is ready to go. The curriculum is large in ELA and the time is limited. I will try to accomodate your needs but...if I give you a work period the expectation is that YOU will work. Keep you mind on the task before you.

Draft copy of "At the Wedding" is due tomorrow. Two students will be making their anecdote presentations. We will finish reading the stories as well.

Some students did not have the homework done. Boo! There is no excuse when you can phone me at home and let me know your homework will not be done. Come on you guys!

The Canadian paragraphs needed some tweeking but overall, the first attempts were a good start to your assignments. Many students need the best possible mark in this class to get into post secondary. Please do not be the student who interrupts the class with inappropriate behaviour. Thank you. The draft for the speech is due at the beginning of tomorrow's class.
